2022 Summer Internship Program

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? 
 
The IPG Health Internship Program is designed to offer college students the opportunity to learn about a career in healthcare advertising. Interns will work in real-world business situations, attend seminars on the different aspects of the industry and learn about the inner workings of an agency. 
  

Each week is strategically broken down to help our interns make the most out of their time here. Monday – Wednesday is spent working with the department you are placed in along with a personalized mentor to show you the way. Thursdays are reserved for lunch and learns where we bring in senior leadership from each department while chowing down on some delicious food on us. Friday is reserved for teams to work on the client project which is presented in pitch format to our c-level executives as well as the client.  
 
PROGRAM DETAILS: 
 
START DATE: Monday, June 13, 2022 
END DATE: Friday, August 12, 2022 
SCHEDULE: Full-time (Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM) 
PAY: Hourly  

FORMAT: Virtual or Hybrid Optional

 

COPYWRITING: 

 

Who we are: We’re writers, art directors, illustrators, digital designers, and branding experts (to name a few). 
 

What we do:

  • Create work across every platform, including print, TV, digital, and social 

  • Tell stories through compelling creative work that thrives beyond the campaign itself

Day to day responsibilities: 

 

  • Learn how to conceptualize with a copywriter 

  • Learn how to work within a creative strategy 

  • Learn the process of telling a story 

  • Know order of a page: headline, visual, copy, logo 

  • Become familiar with a creative strategy 

  • Be exposed to selection process for photographers, illustrators, models, actors, and locations 

  • Working knowledge of computer software – ie, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc 

  • Be exposed to typography, retouching, engraving 

  • Design a layout 

  • Prepare a rough comp, tight comp, and know the difference between comps, mechanicals, and proofs 

  • Learn how to set type 

  • Learn how to present an idea and work 

  • Begin to learn the process of producing a commercial and understand where the art direction fits in 

  • Develop 3-5 ads for portfolio 

  • Review advertising annuals (Commercial Arts/One Show/Addy/Art Director’s Club) 

 
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
-Rising junior, senior, or recent graduate from an accredited college or university  
-Passion for advertising/marketing and/or design related degree 
-Available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week for the duration of the 9-week program 
-Possess solid communication, computer, and presentation skills
