Job Description

Medical Writers assume responsibility for understanding the scientific and clinical aspects of their assigned businesses in depth, and serve as a key resource for both internal teams and clients in medical education. They will represent the scientific perspective throughout development of manuscripts and presentations, and ensure scientific and clinical relevance. Medical Writers will begin to develop their strategic skill set in an effort to uncover the most compelling way in which to communicate brand differentiation. Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical and interpretive skills, is needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
Scientific Integrity 
Ensure that the medical insights being provided to the client are accurate and credible 
New Business 
Actively participate as a member of new business pitch teams when needed 

Support 
Provide support across internal client teams and vendors 


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
Knowledge/Expertise 

 Develop adequate scientific knowledge base for assigned products and assist with scientific platform development. 


 Develop manuscripts that meet the stated objectives of the project, are within the job specifications as defined by team/client, and are at the appropriate level and tone for the audience. 


 Address all inquiries and incorporate all revisions requested by internal, client, and KOL reviewers. 

Strategic Skills/Tools 

• 
Understand marketing and strategy and objectives for assigned products. 


 Determine adequacy of references provided for projects and obtain additional references or information as

necessary. 

 Provide competitive intelligence at congresses. 

Client Relationships 


 Able to represent medical and deliver review of content to clients. 


 Participate in speaker training and advisory activities. 

Business Development 


Help identify and vet KOLs. 


 Participate in brand plan development for medical education accounts. 

Communication/Selling Skills 


 Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. 


 Describe the data/references used, and answer any questions regarding the piece. 

Teamwork/Collaboration 

• 
Manage workflow for assigned products and ensure team deadlines. 


 Help define job specifications, and help generate project proposal.

 Contribute innovative ways to deliver medical education content.

 Deliver work that is detailed, accurate and consistently on target. 


 Participate in on site review before any live event, broadcast, or video-taping during which our content is being used (help answer any questions, provide reference support, and ensure key messages being delivered).

 Complete timesheets accurately and on time. 


 Develop ability to reasonably estimate time required to complete specific projects.
