Reporting to VP, Client & Growth Operations Director, the Director of Financial Operations leads & manages the day-to-day financial foundation of the SOLVE(D) organization.

The Director will help support the SVP & VP, Director with establishing the overall media financial principles necessary for the organization to run the effectively and efficiently. The Director must be adept and skilled in driving financial operational excellence to deliver an end to end solutions for the optimal business performance.  This person should be able to work with various department within the IPG and/or the MediaBrands network to deliver the overarching operational vision.

This position will provide guidance and financial support to client account teams & agency leadership. This position will also be responsible for supervising junior staff. Job responsibilities include developing financial foundations from end to end perspective. This would include developing financial 101s (i.e. financial roles & responsibilities, timelines, best practices, etc.) client billing, vendor payment/reconciliation, media actualization, accruals, business reporting (i.e. aging, invoice/reconciliation, and fee reports) financial audits and forecasting.

The VP, Director is ultimately accountable for the team who ensures the management of the account operating processes, timeliness and driving consistency of work produced throughout all disciplines.

Included but not limited to:

  • Lead the management of the company-wide day-to-day financial operations, putting in place strong processes and systems allowing the organization to run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Drive change and results by championing operational excellence and performance initiatives to ensure alignment and successful financials rigor.
  • Analyze and evaluate current financial internal operations (tools, methods, processes, procedures) and identify areas of change, improvement and enhancement.
  • Evolve the processes, standards, and technology used across the business
  • Develop, document and implement best practices, standards and other policies and procedures to improve performance within the financial function areas of the company.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the functional team on an ongoing basis, and provide direct feedback, counsel, and coaching to drive practices and processes and overall company performance.
  • Team up with Account and Finance team leads to ensure account adherence to company and client processes.
  • Utilization/Productivity reports, Analysis of Estimate vs. Actuals, WIP reports, receivable aging.
  • Implement and maintain financial processes as needed. Bring consistency to the various processes including fee proposals, staff plans and labor reconciliations.
  • Understand the scope of work and corresponding fee. Maintain and uphold client compliance requirements per contract.
  • Responsible for ensuring fee is properly recorded and billed on a monthly basis.
  • Oversees client billing processes for media, production and fees, including client maintenance files. Additionally, lead the group for payables, estimates, overages, receivables and approvals and associated processes.
  • Main point of contact for coordination of client & internal financial audits
  • Oversees time reporting/coding process
  • Provide counsel to Client Finance as they coordinate with financial reporting group on general accounting issues.
  • Ensure that Client Finance becomes and is thought of as partners to the rest of the agency, with Account Management
  • Provide leadership to the client finance department. Train, develop and manage the client finance department. Instill a sense of pride and ownership in the work


  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial operations, change management, and program/project management within an agency or consulting setting.
  • Proficient in advanced functions and formulas to perform VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, graphs and data capture
  • Possess advanced understanding of SAP systems
  • Strong operational rigor and the ability to lead large scale initiatives across an organization with experience in driving cross-functional initiatives at the highest levels of a complex organization and ecosystem business.
  • A structured problem solver who can quickly get to the heart of an issue, excels in systems thinking, and is scrappy, determined, logical, and analytical.
  • Have the interpersonal skills, tenacity, and common sense to be an agent of change.
